News from the Azores

Some time ago, we started our cooperation with CW Azores – an organization that, in addition to classic, nature-friendly whale watching in the Azores, is also dedicated to the protection of and research on marine mammals along with the marine ecosystem. We were the first company to successfully conduct non-invasive dietary analyses of blue whales and fin whales and their prey from water and fecal samples, respectively.

Following this groundbreaking success, CW Azores now plans to use our method to study humpback and sei whales for the first time in the coming season, in addition to further eDNA samples of blue whales and fin whales. Furthermore, a wide variety of eDNA samples will be collected on a regular basis to gain as much knowledge as possible about the vulnerable ecosystem. We are happy to help!

Now the new blog of CW Azores is online, which we of course don’t want to withhold from you! Here you can also find more details about the current research projects.

In any case, we are already looking forward to the day when the fresh whale samples arrive at our lab.
